[ hajime was hoping to put in a bit more practice once everyone else had left. he tries to tell himself that it was only just the usual thing he would do (nothing about "what if i practice more here? will that change things at home?") but when he gets back to the center, he finds the balls put away and makoto dragging them. ]

Hey--! Why are you doing that by yourself?

[splasher]

[this is a new face]

[stops what he's doing and stands up straighter, looking up at the newcomer (as far as makoto is concerned), and it takes him a moment to process what he's been asked.]

Well, everyone's gone, so I thought-- I would clean up!

[kingbeater]

Well, yeah, that much is obvious, but why not ask for help? That's a lot of crap to put away.

[splasher]

It's not really as much as it seems!

[says the swimmer to the guy who plays volleyball who obviously knows better]

Did you want to use the court?

Bull, this is my sport and I know how much work it is to put stuff away after practice!

[ giving makoto a hard look ] Why didn't you ask for help?

[splasher]

[UH... squirms under this hard gaze]

I guess I-- I, didn't want to inconvenience anyone!

So you'd rather you get inconvenienced more?

It's not really a problem at all!

[stops altogether, and a ball bounces comically out of his hands]

[ stooping over to pick up that ball ]

[makoto wishes to refute, say "maybe next time!," but finds himself biting back on those words.]

Would... you mind helping me, then?

[ and putting that ball he picked up with the other balls ]

Ah, thank you, uhm--... I'm Makoto. From the swim team.

And I'm Iwaizumi Hajime, from the volleyball team.

[splasher]

Oh, so you know Hinata and Tobio?

[kingbeater]

Sorta. I played against Hinata, but Kageyama was my underclassman in middle school.

[splasher]

Then you have friends here!

[the important bit. that iwa-chan is well looked after]

--Yeah, they're not bad, all things considered.

We all got friends like that, don't we? One of my friends from back home is like five people in one. He has so much energy.

[they're quickly getting their volleyball shit organised wow, balls into the bag, etc]

For all the trouble, I'm definitely glad they're here. It makes it less lonely.

[ he doesn't mind it. iwaizumi himself is one that doesn't mind letting others doing the talking. he prefers to let his actions speak for him ]

Yeah, I guess that makes a lot of things worth it.
